Window Cleaning Tip- It's Window Cleaning, NOT Window Washing
Whether you already own a window cleaning company or you are looking at starting your own window cleaning business. One of the first things you need to get squared away in your head is that you are a ‘window cleaner’ and in the window ‘cleaning’ business, NOT a window washer in the window washing business. You may think that the distinction is silly, but I guarantee you it is important. While some people may think that “Wallys Window Washing” is a cute name, many people associate window washers with the guy who jumps on the hood of your car at a stop light with a squirt bottle and a rag offering to wash your windows. This is not the image I want to cultivate around my business. The image you want to present to your customers is one of professionalism, legitimacy and competence. Whether in your

Implementing A Successful PR Campaign - PR Does Not Stand For Press Release
There’s no denying that the Internet is allowing more and more entrepreneurs to start their own businesses and effectively market their new products. However, there seems to be an increasingly common misconception when these businesses try to generate media attention and publicity for their products or businesses. Over the past several years, I have had more than a few clients come to me seeking “a PR” to get people interested in their products/businesses. That’s right a "PR". Contrary to what some people think, PR is NOT an acronym for “Press Release” – it stands for Public Relations. PR is much more than just a press release and that distinction is very important to understand.I often cringe when I see articles from well-intentioned “marketing” experts that say, in effect: “simply write a press re
Finding a job is hard. It takes persistence, confidence and preparation. That being said, there are things one can do to make the transition from unemployed to office superstar faster and less frustrating. The number one thing that alleviates job-finding anxiety is preparation. It cannot be stressed enough. Proper preparation includes researching the best job sites for one's industry, having an updated resume always available, and even knowing what to wear.

Silent Auction Fundraisers - Auction Item Set-up a Top Priority
There is nothing more frustrating than attending a silent auction fundraiser where auction items have been haphazardly displayed. Visually pleasing auction tables are a high priority! You want bidders to get excited about the auction items displayed at your fundraising event. Your goal is to encourage people to bid on silent auction items – not pass them by.How you set up auction tables depends on the actual number of auction items and the amount of space you have to work with. Go out to your venue and physically pre-determine where you are going to set up silent auction tables. Do a configuration of how you want to place the tables and make sure you allow plenty of “elbow room.”It is wise to set up “mock” tables before the day of the fundraising event to show how you want the auction items a

Why Do Lawyers Have the Biggest Advertisements in the Yellow Pages?
Have you ever considered why lawyers have the biggest advertisements in the Yellow Pages? Well perhaps you should think on which advertisements do the best in the Yellow Pages and why. If you are an established business you do not need to advertise in the Yellow Pages because you have plenty of referrals from satisfied customers.Of course if you are a lawyer the chances of you having satisfied customers and are getting referrals is rare because you probably overcharged every one and they feel like they've been ripped off. Have you ever heard the saying there's a sucker born every minute? Well as a lawyer you need to find all those suckers, but once they've been burned they will not refer you to other suckers that they will meet. This is why I believe most lawyers have the biggest advertise

Do You Know What Your Employees Are Doing?
A recent survey by Salary.com shows employee productivity may not be all that employers would like. According to the survey, “the average worker in the US admits to frittering away 2.09 hours per eight hour workday”. This figure does not include lunch breaks or other scheduled break-time.In Wisconsin for example, for every eight hours work an employer pays for, the employee is likely to deliver less than six. Respondents admit to wasting 2.8 hours on activities such as: • Surfing the Internet for personal use • Socializing with co-workers • Conducting personal businessTake out employer sanctioned time off such as lunch breaks, vacation time and sick leave and the productivity picture looks even worse.According to the survey, the number one time-wasting excuse is

Finding Comfortable Office Chairs and Furniture
Comfortable office furniture are necessary for offering seating to customers and clients who must wait for service or for a scheduled appointment. In addition, quality office desk chairs are necessary for maintaining employee comfort and morale.Office desk chairs can be found in every individual office or cubicle. A comfortable, ergonomic office desk chair is essential for employee satisfaction and a high level of office productivity. Many employees sit for as long as eight hours each workday, with only occasional short breaks. It is important to take preventative measures to prevent injury and to alleviate the stress that is placed on the back from sitting for a prolonged amount of time. For this reason, it is important that office desk chairs offer excellent lumbar support and aid in maintain

If you want to show a bit of your personality, let it peek through in your cover letter. Your resume should serve to provide a structured outline of your qualifications, nothing more. Remember that consistency and simplicity are priorities with your resume. Treat each section the same. Make sure that you use reverse chronological order for all entries. DO NOT prioritize your employment history. Just because something was important to you, does not mean your potential employer will think so. Let them make the decision when reading with no surprises. For instance, you don't want to go from 1997 to 2006, back to 2000. You want to go from 2007 to 2006 to 2005, and so on. No surprises, nothing to hide.

HOW TO DRESS FOR A JOB INTERVIEW: ALWAYS OVER DRESS! (Just a little bit)

    Rule #1: Dress Nicely!
Set aside an outfit that you know you're comfortable in and makes you feel confident. If the employer does not specify what the dress code is, assume it's BUSINESS CASUAL and plan to dress a little nicer than that!

Women: Wear dark dress pants and either a sweater, blouse or button down dress shirt. NO JEANS! NOTHING REVEALING! Don't even risk it for a first impression. For shoes, knock yourself out. If you like heels, wear heels. If you
