Opt in Email Marketing – How to Get Started

Opt in email marketing is one of my favorite methods of online income generation. Why? I like it because I have the unique opportunity to repeatedly contact my opt in email subscribers with my sales offers, rather than lose them to a one-time occurrence when they visit my sales page one time.

I like it because I can get to know my subscribers, find out what they need, and offer it to them. It is so much more personal than sending someone directly to a sales page after they read my article.

So how do you get started in opt in email marketing?

One word of warning before you even get started: There is definitely a learning curve. Some of my first emails were horrible – I mean, really horrible. But as I learned more, I added in the new stuff, and they started getting better. I remember when people started buying my affiliate products (that’s right – I started with affiliate products). Now, I have 6 products of my own - and am still writing content.

But back to the purpose of this article:

    1) You need your own web site. No matter what anyone says, you really need your own.

    2) You need an autoresponder service – and don’t buy one to use yourself – it is well worth the $20 a month to use someone like www.aweber.com and let them deal with the email companies about your emails getting through – I mean, do you really want to email aol everyday to ge

Yellow Page Tips You Won't Get Anywhere Else

What Interviewing Job Candidates Taught Me About Marketing
I used to have the responsibility for interviewing and hiring employees when I was in marketing and advertising management jobs. Two questions I used to ask interviewees were:1) What strengths would you bring to this position?– and don’t buy one to use yourself – it is well worth the $20 a month to use someone like www.aweber.com and let them deal with the email companies about your emails getting through – I mean, do you really want to email aol everyday to get them to send your emails through? – of course not.

    3) You need a squeeze page on your web site with opt in sales copy and your opt in script from aweber.

    4) You must send traffic to your squeeze page.

    5) You must write a series of emails – do not worry about how bad they are, just use aweber’s tracking to tell you which ones are not pulling, and change the worst email every week. After awhile, you will have a strong campaign.
