Saddam Hussein's life has ended. Hanged by the neck until dead. A fitting end to life for this monster, who never showed remorse, murdered countless thousands of people, including members of his own family, and remained defiant until the end.And, I have heard very little from those who oppose capital punishment. No one has come forward advocating mercy and rehabilitation. No one has asked for years of endless appeals. Maybe a little bit of that good Texas criminal law rubbed off on those people. So, maybe this was a good thing. Get it over with quickly. No use in just hanging around when you're at the end of your rope (so to speak). Okay, that was tacky, but I am personally finding it very difficult to think good thoughts for this very evil creature. Chalk it up to human failng, if you will. The world is a better place without him.But, if you will take a moment to remember, let's revisit the day our troops found Saddam cowering in a 'spider hole', trying desparately to avoid capture. President Bush told America, "Now, the former dictator of Iraq will face the justice he denied to millions. For the vast majority of Iraqi citizens, the torture chambers and the secret police are gone forever".Enter one Howard Dean: "The capture of Saddam has not made America safer...". Then neither did the defeat of Hitler, Tojo or Mussoulini. Right!Enter one John Kerry: "Saddam's capture is an important step toward stabilizing Iraq for the Iraqis"...but then went on to disparage the Bush administration.The list goes on, and on, and on, and...The bottom line is this: Had the United States of America followed the path of these great thinkers, Saddam Hussein would still be alive today. He would still be in power today. He would still be the brutal, murdering dictator of Iraq, training suicide bombers to kill Americans, offering a safe haven to terrorists, and the turmoil in the middle e

All insurance contracts are governed by the concept of ‘offer and acceptance’. This requires you to fill the proposal form and send it to the insurance company. Sometimes you are also required to attach a check for the premium amount, with the proposal form.Your filling the proposal form and sending it to the insurance company is the ‘offer’ and when the insurance company accepts your proposal it is the ‘acceptance’ part of the concept. When doing an interview there need to be at least three people involved. The person being interviewed, you, the interviewer and someone to work the camcorder. It could be argued - I would so argue - that an extra person to handle the sound is a great benefit but this is a policy of perfection.Interviewing for video is a skill that can be acquired with practice. The key to successful interviewing is research, research and yet more research.Before you interview a subject you need to know as much as possible about the person you are interviewing.And you need to read everything that anyone has ever written about the subject.This is what the Internet is for. Typically it contains everything written in recent times.The more information you can get, the more research you do, the smoother the interview will go.Having said that it is vital that you, the interviewer, both asks questions and knows when to shut up.The problem is that often you will find yourself knowing more about a subject than the person you are interviewing, and the temptation then is to show off your knowledge.This is fatal.The viewer is not interested in your views. It is the person being interviewed – the interviewee – who should be the center of attention. And before you ask, yes, this is a major problem for me. I cannot keep my big mouth shut.Be prepared for interviews that go smoothly and those that get a bit ragged. Three examples.I had an hour interview with Bill Gates in Sydney for Australian television. My questions were well prepared. He would listen to the question, stay quiet for a moment and then give a cogent, grammatical answer. Amazing. As an interview it went like a dream. On the other hand, I got one very wrong. Binoculars are used for a lot of things. The word means “two eyes.” Although, really, when we use binoculars, we’re kind of a four-eyes, aren’t we? Bird-watchers, hunters and amateur astronomers are just a few of the people who use binoculars. Kids use them as toys and as learning devices.People are always finding ways to improve on our five senses. We do a pretty good job of it, too. We can improve just about everything. We move faster in cars and airplanes. We hear better with headsets and hearing aids. We see better with glasses and binoculars. When we’re trying to see tiny objects far away or even huge objects, like planets, that are really far away, binoculars help.Birdwatchers use binoculars to find those fast flying rare birds as they hum through the sky. You have to look quick or you miss them! Binoculars bring the tiny colored creatures into better focus. Using binoculars, the avid birdwatcher can be sure he really saw the rare Bonaparte’s Nightjar or Pink-Headed Fruit Dove, not just another sparrow or bluebird. (Not to knock sparrows or bluebirds. They’re cool, too.)Hunters use binoculars, too. Since they can be slung around the neck on a cord, it’s easy to spot the prey and drop the binoculars to pick up the rifle. Next thing you know, you’ve shot your dinner. Deer and other wild animals move fast. Empower yourself with a little knowledge, take a little extra time to look around instead of just reaching for the same products you buy week after week, and take the time to think about what you are purchasing. Here are ten tips to help make your next trip to the grocery store a money saving success.Shop from a list. I can't emphasize this enough. Take the time to think about what you need to buy before leaving home. If you shop weekly, write down the meals that you have planned for the week and then make a grocery list based upon the ingredients needed to prepare those meals. When I make a shopping list I usually walk myself through it in a way that makes sense to me. First I think about what I will need for breakfast throughout the week. Then I think about lunch and dinner. I use my weekly menu for the ingredients I need for dinner. Next, I think about beverages, snacks and, finally, household items such as cleaning supplies, laundry supplies and toiletries. When you get to the store stick to your list with the one exception being stockpiling.Stockpile. When you see an item that you use on a regular basis on sale for a great bargain price, stock up on it. You may spend more money this week, but in the long run you will save. For example, if toilet tissue that regularly costs $1.50 per package is on sale for $0.75 per package and you purchase ten packages, you will be spending $7.50 on toilet tissue this week instead of the $1.50 that you would have spent to purchase just one package. However, over the course of ten weeks, if you would have purchased one package each week, you would have spent $15.00 on toilet tissue. You have just saved $7.50. When you leave I-5, you wind through miles of the Mukilteo Speedway. It looks like a South Tacoma Way, with car lots, junk car lots, strip malls and fast-food joints for miles. But as you come down the hill to approach the actual ferry terminal, your socks are knocked off your feet by the overwhelming beauty of the shoreline of the bay, islands, and even Mount Baker in the distance. It's open-mouthed stunning.
